A million species of animals and plants are at risk of extinction which represents 1/4 of all species on earth. This was a study done over a period of 3 years by an intergovernmental scientific body brought together to study the ecosystem. This body has come to the conclusion that the reason for this is human activity. Overpopulation and over-consumption have led to deforestation. climate change, pollution, and an overall degradation of the ecosystem.
This story is infuriating. The idea that humans are so careless with the environment is extremely sad. What's clear is that changing human behavior as a whole is going to be extremely difficult. However, the scientific body suggests that there is hope. We can change our individual behavior and we can also start to change our society through things such as voting for the right politicians and being active in society.
Kadar- Hm??? Maybe Thanos was on to something with the whole snappy fingers thing.
ReplyDeleteGreat Article. I think that human's aren't careless, however, I do believe that we should lower the fossil fuels consumption to reduce pollution.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that humans are not completely careless, however we do not make enough effort to limit pollution or the usage of unnecessary plastics from day to day, for example a few simple ones such as straws, plastic bags, or plastic bottles, which can all be replaced by reusable ones instead.
