Brooke Simpson-Melania Trump Unveils Her Platform, Kids to 'Be Best'

Melania Trump Unveils Her Platform, Kids to ‘Be Best’

Sixteen months after becoming first lady, Melania Trump revealed her platform, “Be Best,” which focuses on well being, fighting opioid abuse, and social media positivity, which is mostly about helping kids.  In her speech today, she talked about children’s destructive behavior and how it is the adults’ job to help children.  The new platform has dramatically increased Mrs. Trump’s polling favorability.  All of the things she wants to address also include healthy living and emotional health, awareness to neonatal abstinence syndrome (babies born addicted and dependent on drugs), importance of healthy pregnancy, and against social media cyberbullying and negativity.  People have been pointing out that Melania was cautioning against behavior that her husband uses a lot, but White House press secretary has said earlier that the president’s behavior isn’t the reason for cyberbullying.  There were many executives from companies like Google, Twitter, Amazon, and representatives from the Families for Online Safety Institute.

The article was written by Kate Bennett on May 7, 2018 for CNN Politics.  The article is important because although the first lady is not an elected position, the role of the first lady can be very important, and all of our modern first ladies have had campaigns that they have along with their husbands’ administrations.  The article is significant because Melania Trump has revealed her campaign, and there will be a movement to put it in place probably pretty soon.  The article can be compared to Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” in the War on Drugs during her husband’s presidency.  Both women are advocating against drug use in children and during pregnancy, which can be very damaging to the user in both circumstances.

  1. I really appreciate her effort in trying to begin a program that helps out kids, but I feel like it's a want to be Michelle Obama....

  2. I think this is a good thing. I hope she does more programs like these in the future.
