Emma Sutherland - Snapchat is worth more than Delta, Target and CBS

SUMMARY:
Snapchat, a large social media platform, is six years old and lets people around the world take pictures of themselves with filters and cartoonish dog ears. However, Snapchat, is surprisingly worth more than MANY well known companies today. Deere & Co., a tractor and agricultural equipment company that helps farmers grow crops to feed the planet, has been calculated to be worth less than Snapchat, which by the way, is not making any money yet. Deere's market value is about $35 billion dollars! That means that Snapchat is worth more than $40 billion dollars. Some other major companies that you may be familiar with that Snapchat has surpassed is Delta, Southwest, Target, eBay, General Mills, Kelloggs, Marriot, CBS, etc. Many are wondering how much more it can rise from here.

ANALYSIS:
Before reading this article, I had not been aware of how successful Snapchat had been, and how much the app itself was actually worth. However, I am not surprised. I believe that these days, social media is corrupting much of our society. I feel that it will soon overpower many companies and corporations, as it has shown already! It surprises me how many companies that they have passed in terms of worth, because I feel that companies such as Kelloggs and Target are widely popular, and could hold their own compared to most social media platforms. I think that this article clearly shows how social media is slowly but surely dominating our society, and how this problem can only grow from here! This article is from CNN, a very reliable source for upcoming news. This can relate to the Industrial Revolution, and how around this era, an entirely new vision was present in the eyes of the Americans. There was a new focus on the advancement of technology, just how social media is affecting us today.
