On Sunday, May 15, 2016, Jane Little died after collapsing on stage during a performance. Jane Little was a bassist who held the Guinness World Record for the longest professional tenure with a single orchestra. She died at the age of 87. Little joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the age of 16, and has been playing with them for 71 years. The ASO responds to this event, saying, "The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra was truly blessed to have Jane as part of our family for the past 71 years and we all miss her passion, vitality, spirit and incredible talent." I think it is amazing that Jane Little played with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for so many years, especially considering that some people don't even live that long! To her last day she was performing and doing what she loved, and she will be missed.
