Summary: A endangered baby dolphin was killed after is was picked up from the water and passed around for photos on a beach in Argentina. The incident took place on a resort in Argentina in Santa Teresita. La Plata dolphins also known as Franciscana dolphins are only found in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil with less than 30,000 remaining in the wild. The Franciscana dolphins are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species. There is a video aired of a man picking up the baby dolphin and quickly being surrounded by other people eager to touch the dolphin. The dolphin was less than a few feet long and after the people got their fair share pf pictures with it they left it in the mud where it was seen in the video lying dead and motionless. The video is no longer available for viewing.
Analysis: This story actually upset me to the extent where i could barely type. What human being in their right mind would ever think that picking up a aquatic animal out of the water for more than 2 seconds was okay? Aquatic animals live in water for a reason. The Franciscana Dolphin has thick oily skin, not meant for being out of water for long amounts of time because their skin absorbs heat and dries out quickly. This is not the first time something like this has happened but its the first with an Endangered species. I have no idea if those people knew if the species was endangered or not but still. The fact that they left that poor helpless animal there to die because they were done manipulating it for a few likes on social media? That is ludacris! Topics like these get me heated very quickly because of all the dumb selfish people in this world who only think of themselves. I viewed the video when it was still available to be seen and it hurt me to watch it. In my opinion those people who took pictures with it need to serve some serious time.

ReplyDeleteI agree. Why would you think it was okay to take a selfie with an aquatic animal out of the water? And what idiot leaves an animal in the mud? How hard is it to put it make into the ocean? Hasn't this happened before?
This is terrible! I couldn't believe it at first, because who would lift an animal clearly made for the WATER into their bacteria-infested and heat-emitting hands, let alone leave the poor baby by itself on land! I'm disgusted people were so inconsiderate as to take the baby from its sheltered home, knowing that issues would probably arise due to the fact that it was most certainly a baby animal, and pass it around like a souvenir.
