A "smart" prosthetic leg is a finalist for the MacRobert Award, a British engineering prize. The Linx Limb adapts to a changing environment with robotic ankle and knee joints. The MacRobert Award dinner has been organized annually by the Royal Academy of engineering since 1969. The Linx is the first leg of its kind, using robotic joints that function similarly to a human leg. It is an expensive prosthetic but could save money overall by minimizing back pains or falls.
This leg is an amazing technological breakthrough and helpful invention for those enduring hardships of stiff prosthetics. In U.S. is history this is related to the Industrial Revolution of the 1820's and 30s.
