Republican for Gay Rights?- Lossie Hudspeth

In recent news Republican Rand Paul has been addressed on many controversial topics within the world of politics. His most recent trivia was on the issue of Gay Marriage and what he supported. Typically as a republican the answer would be "traditional marriage", but what he said may have stirred some college students to listen more closely. The question was "could you rethink your stand on gay marriage?" and in turn Paul gave an answer that could be either yes or no. Right now with his speech he is standing on the borderline between Anti and Pro Gay rights, he says that with society moving forward we have to rethink things. Our choices/ decisions are not set in stone and with LGBT being more welcome in our society we have the choice to either move with it or struggle against it. Sometimes when asked a question that can challenge your morals or political view the best way to go is to either defend or simply say "I don't know". In the future will we all come to terms with our own views or let others move us to a new perspective? How can we all come together to decide what is in our country's best interest? Is it always a good thing to have two opposing views?

  1. I'm glad that he didn't let the fact that he is a Republican bias his thinking on the issue.

  3. Political parties these days are often corrupted by what is the "popular" view of their perspective parties. It is uplifting to see a politician standing up for what he truly believes instead of what will win an election.

  4. Its great that he is willing to have an open mind with this issue. Its disheartening when politicians sie with their political parties only instead of the well being of the people.
