Rafael Burilo Ruiz, the mayor, was headed to San Juan when he discovered the power outage at a stoplight. Come to find out, the entire island of Puerto Rico is blacked out. Since the awful hurricanes that hit seven months ago, Puerto Rico is still trying to figure out what to do as about half of the population still doesn't have power. After Maria and Irma hit, it has been said that 98% of energy has been restored which is not true, it hit 60% as of may 1st. Initially it was said to be a 2.5 billion dollar recovery and has not progressed too much. Puerto Rico has officially fallen off the modern day market. It has been a work in progress to get that island modernized and because of the natural disaster, it has gone back down.
This relates to APUSH because it truly shows how bad the damage was and how help from other countries is a vital to thing to stay running and to have the right equipment.

I liked your connection to the help from the other countries. There is no way we would have gotten through some things without help.
