Ashton Benn- 5/13/17

The new U.S. embassy is scheduled to open in Jerusalem which is a monumental event. Many people say that this establishment will cause a lot of controversy because it recognizes the capitol of Israel and defeats the American tradition of being neutral in the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. However others argue that having an embassy will allow for the U.S. to be able to mediate more affairs and be actively involved in the affairs.

I can see that both sides of the argument have important points, so I am impartial to the article. My connection is to the Camp David Accords that were negotiated by Jimmy Carter. These accords helped establish a reasonable peace between Palestine and Israel, and were seen as a foreign policy victory for Carter and is one of the most memorable developments of his presidency.
