So a few weeks ago, there was another post about the Zika virus and all the danger it could have for pregnant women going to the 2016 Olympics. Now researchers have found that this is just the start of the virus. Before, they only thought that birth defects were linked to mothers who were later in their pregnancy, but they have now found that it is in any stage. The good news is that scientist are working to find a vaccine. Personally this virus reminds me of the black death with the widespread death of many people.
Even though people are not dying rapidly from the Zika virus, it is similar to the black death because the way people got infected was through a flea bite that previously bit a rat. All in all, i still think pregnant women should not leave the country and should be very careful when outdoors. The Zika virus is at our backdoor and we want to make sure we have a screen in between us. I think researchers should try to find a cure faster even if it means skipping multiple tests. Especially because it is almost summer and this is the most common time for people to get a mosquito bite.
