Push for $15 Raises Pay-and Tensions by Caroline North 9th period

The push to raise minimum wage has gained more momentum than ever as dozens of cities have passed wage increases in the past four years, some $15 an hour.  While raising the minimum wage standard is favorable by a tremendous amount of Americans, it is to others dismay.  So-called wage compression poses a financial and management problem for employers.  Some experienced veteran staff are unhappy that less experienced co-workers will now earn the same amount of money they spent years striving to achieve.

It may be aggravating others may receive the same wage as you while you worked for countless hours to achieve that age, I think it's important that we put our personal agendas aside and ultimately think about what will benefit our nation the most.  Many people with low incomes and little education never have the opportunity to create a more prosperous life for themselves as they are stuck in a low paying job that suits their skill level, and they can't pursue any higher education because they can't afford it with their low income.  Furthermore, because of their low paying job, it will likely be very difficult to provide education for their children who will also be stuck in the same poor job, poor pay situation.  Despite egotistical opinions and personal agendas, a great way to solve this issue is raise the minimum wage to provide all Americans with an opportunity to live more comfortably.
