Law suit filed by the federal government over HB2 bill in North Carolina By:Luis Ceja

A couple of days ago the United States Department of Justice threatened to file a lawsuit against North Carolina over it's HB2 law which discriminates against transgender people. They gave the state 3 days to promise that they won't implement HB2. The governor did not meet the response deadline so the Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit claiming that HB2 violates title VII of the civil rights act. They plan to take legal action against the state but the North Carolina Governor is fighting this opposition and is sticking to his guns with the issue. He say the law protects the rights and privacy of people in the bathroom. While others considered this law to be discriminatory.

  3. It's interesting to see how the government is supporting rights like this, just like in Eisenhower/JFK/LBJ times when the federal government went head to head with the state about Civil Rights issues.
