Victoria Garza "Attack on West Virginia State Senate Candidate Overshadows Vote"

Democratic West Virginia State Senate Candidate Richard Ojeda was beaten up at a barbecue last weekend. Ojeda was kicked in the head while putting a campaign bumper sticker on his car, knocking him out. When he woke up, his head was against a tree bleeding and he was left with fractured bones in eight places, stitches, bruising, and swelling. Ojeda believes that this attack was politically motivated.
It is awful that someone would inflict harm upon another person simply because of their political beliefs, however I feel like there has been violence not only in the past but in our current times where people target others based on personal aspects. We've seen groups like the KKK inflict harm on groups like African Americans, Jews, Catholics, and immigrants. Even today with police brutality we see a purposeful targeting of a group because of their race.
