Summary
Norma Bastidas recently completed a 3,762 mile long journey along the route many human traffickers take across the Americas. This long journey is one of many harrowing running feats Bastidas has completed, and also serves as a representation of her former life as a sex slave in human trafficking. She unknowingly became a part of the whole ordeal when she first went to Japan to work as a model to help her family, but quickly became aware that she was being sold to the highest bidder, and had to work as a sex slave. Soon after she had escaped, she began drinking heavily, and eventually quit, she began running instead, and quickly became well known for her amazing feats of speed and endurance.
Analysis
Bastidas's tale is an inspiring one, to us, I'm sure, the mere idea of human trafficking seems a million miles away, and yet here is a story of a woman who had to live through it, who had to experience every nightmarish, gut wrenching part you here about on the news, its terrifying. And yet she was able to overcome it, and become something great.
