There is a town in Florida, Babcock Ranch, that is hoping to become the most energy efficient town in the United States of America. Recently a 91000 acre plot of land became available in the lower panhandle of Florida, so companies jumped at the opportunity to develop a plot of land 5 times the size of Manhattan. Eventually it was sold to the highest bidder, and the buyer intends to equip this new town with the most energy efficient gear that a town can get, including water recycling and solar panels. This is similar to the attempt during the 1800's to create utopian societies such as the mormon community in Salt Lake City.
