Bomb hreats hits schools nationwide-Nicholas Watson, 9th (5)

Summary:
A swarm of bomb threats directed at schools have forced authorities to lock down buildings and evacuate students and staff. The threats, for the most part, have appeared to be automated calls which have targeted elementary, middle and high schools across four time zones. Some districts rport actual bomb threats while others just report them as having a threatening connotation. Ken Trump, a national security expert, said that these hoaxes have gotten out of hand and have lead to an increase in swatting, which basically means that these are hoaxes intended to trigger a large amount of police force. Reports are saying that these are not at all funny and are indeed a danger to public safety.

Analysis:
To start off with I completely agree that these "pranks" are not funny, especially if they are contracting a majotr police response. Think of the problem that would arise if a whole town of police are responding to nothing more than a gag, when in reality something real and dangerous could pop up and there would be no one to respond, in an adequate amount of time. I think these pranks are disrespectful and unsafe, in almost a mocking way. I mean with American schools and public buildings on high alert for the past few years, with the increase in school shootings, prank calls like these are exactly the opposite of what communities need, especially with everyone on edge already. Many people these days unfortunately live in fear and these calls and hoaxes don't help at all.
