This past Friday, four passengers on an Amtrak train were stabbed. The train was coming from Chicago and was traveling to Port Huron, Michigan. The four people, one of which being the conductor, were hospitalized and their conditions are unknown as of now. The suspect, a 44-year-old man, was arrested. It was unclear as to what his motives were.
This article is disturbing on many levels. It is crazy how in today's society, a person can't even feel safe while riding a train! Not much was written about the passengers who were stabbed, but something about them must've set off the man. In APUSH right now, the KKK, an organization that targeted African Americans, has come up in reading. Perhaps the man took that into account when deciding which people he should target. It is unknown, but nonetheless, gruesome.

I wish there was some way of stopping people from bringing weapons onto public transportation.
ReplyDeleteSadly public transportation has had many problems like this and even if its verbal assault. It might be more avoidable if there was someone working to watch activity that takes place in the train or bus.
ReplyDeleteI have no clue what motivated the guy to do the things that he did. That's awful because lots of people depend on public transportation but some people ruin it and make it dangerous for the whole community.
