New designer drugs, 2C-I-NBOMe, and 2C-C-NBOMe have been linked to two deaths within two days in Grand Folks, North Dakota. When the deceased boy was found, two teenagers were nearby, one naked on a beach and one screaming at a parked car. This was a clear indication to police that drugs were involved in the incident.
Another teenager Elijah Stai was killed by this drug after eating laced chocolate. He quickly started having a violent reaction to the drug where he went into cardiac arrest, was foaming at the mouth, and was convulsing uncontrollably. Once admitted into the hospital, Elijah was declared brain dead and his parents decided to pull him from life support 3 days later.
A lot of research and enforcement is being poured out to control these designer drugs, made to imitate the effects of the banned drug LSD are so potent that one could get high from a dose the size of a few grains of salt. However, as long as the manufacturers continue to change the chemical composition of this drug, it is no longer a controlled substance.

This incident can be related to the war with drugs that effects much of the US-Mexican border. Large numbers of drugs are carried across the border into the US. Officials and border patrol attempt to stand against the large drug cartels, but it has been a struggle.
