In West Virginia, a gunman that was involved in 3 shootings killing 4 people was found dead Monday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot. Jody Lee Hunt, 39, was found in the woods in the north central part of the state. WAJR.com reported that Hunt made a Facebook post basically saying how he poured his heart out to a girl who didn't really love him and was manipulated by her. He realized that his actions were wrong, but he made the message clear saying that those who hurt him will receive the same amount of hurt he did. Two of the shootings happened in the Westover area and the other was in the Cheat Lake area, both in Monogalia County. As a precaution, all schools in Monogalia were placed on lockdown. State documents indicate Hunt owned J&J Towing and Repair LLC of Westover. People around the area would say how the place is always busy, but once Hunt was found dead, it wasn't all that busy.
This relates to APUSH because in a couple of years from now, this will all be history. The way we discover things now will help us in the near future. His Facebook post might have given us some kind of clue as to why he did what he did. He was heartbroken and any person would be upset, but only some people go out of their way to cause others harm like he did. Because we've advanced so much in technology, later in the future, we'll be able to just go to the internet instead of how we learn about events from back then. We got information from diaries, journal entries, songs, or just witnesses in general. Now that we'll have more resources, we'll be able to confirm many things instead of just some.
First of all, it is very disappointing how the man reacted to this woman not loving him back. He reacted completely irrationally. And yes, in just some years, I'm sure technology will advance greatly, as history has already shown.
