World's Oldest Person Dies -Julianne Swaykus 6
Susannah Mushatt Jones, the last known American to be born in the 1800s, died Thursday evening at her senior home in Brooklyn. She was 116 years and 311 days old. Also known as "Miss Susie", she claims her longevity was a result of plentiful sleep, not smoking and not drinking (although she loved and often ate lots of bacon). She was born during the McKinley administration and has over 100 nieces and nephews. "GRG, which works with the Guinness Book of World Records, said that the oldest person is now Emma Morano-Martinuzzi, an Italian born on Nov. 29, 1899."
