Annie Correal's article "The (Very Lazy) Sunday Routine of Vanessa Bayer of 'Saturday Night Live'" was published by the New York Times on May 7, 2016. This article outlines what Bayer's typical Sunday looks like after doing a show. When she gets home at 5 am, she immediately goes to bed. Then she usually wakes up around 3 pm, orders a bagel and watches TV. This continues until she orders dinner around 7 pm. She will stop at least once to meditate. Then she will go to bed around 11 pm.
Although it is really easy to judge someone for being so unproductive, I totally understand. I cannot count how many times I wish I could just stay home and watch TV! Additionally, being on SNL must be incredibly taxing. They have to work long hours and be high energy all the time. I would be exhausted too.
This story reminds me of the creation of the modern day celebrity back in the 20s and 30s, with people like Charles Lindbergh. Never before had an entire society been so obsessed with one person who was not a politician or someone else just as important. Now, a celebrity is much more loosely defined. In fact, many people might not know who Vanessa Bayer is. However, the New York Times published an article about her. The expansion of the realm of celebrity provides more people with opportunities to become famous, but as this article shows, it is really exhausting and a huge commitment to consider.

This is the schedule of the day for so many people and it makes no sense to me that this would even be covered by a major news outlet. Bagels and sleep are good. Etc. I'm tired. Maybe I'll start sleeping in until 3 pm like her.
