An officer made a selection of racist remarks against Muslims, Mexicans, African Americans and women. After sending, he resigned from his post as senior officer. The sheriff, Jim McDonnel, believed that the officer's actions were deeply unprofessional. The racist emails were published in the Los Angeles times, making jokes about minorities in prison and muslim terrorists, as well as mocking racial profiling. Similar offenses have been made in Ferguson as well as San Francisco, causing officers to be fired as well as public outrage. The sheriff explained how he planned to increase diversity and meet with other ethnicities to better understand them due to these experiences. He also said that some officers emails will be randomly publicized to increase accountability.
This article reminds me of the post segregation era where southerners, often police officers, used gross behavior to prevent integration- sometimes even violence. These instances were documented meticulously on news and northerners were often outraged, similarly to how I reacted to reading this article.

That's so rude. I'm glad he lost his job. That's so rude. Officers like these don't need to be officers, They give other officers bad reps.
