Obama speaks about Osama bin Laden
The article I read from CNN discusses the death of Osama bin Laden, the man responsible for 9/11 and parts of the continual "War on Terror"in the United States. Today airs the fifth anniversary of the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden. President Obama and his team spoke about the mastermind plan to capture bin Laden in an Anderson Cooper special entitled,"'We Got Him': President Obama, Bin Laden and the Future of the War on Terror." President Obama spoke for all the Americans effected by the September 11, 2001 attacks when he said, "the U.S. had come for him (Bin Laden) to avenge the deaths of 3,000 people..."
Being only two years old when 9/11 happened and not even born when the "War On Terror" began, I had no understanding of Osama bin Laden's wrong doings to our country until news of his capture spread. All I knew growing up was that he was in charge of a group of terrorists who were out to hurt Americans and would stop at nothing to do so. I'd  hate to say that it's good to see someone dead, but since their leader's death, Al-Qaeda's activity in the United States has greatly decreased. Hopefully the end of the "War On Terror" is nearing, unfortunately with the Paris attacks and such, it's not looking that way.

  1. I feel like the war on terror began a long time ago, and much of it is domestic terrorism. For example, during the post-civil war era, the KKK was formed solely to terrorize minorities. I feel like America is often looking in the wrong places for the root of terrorism in the US, when I can be found within out borders.
