Fort McMurray Fire, Darby McMahon Pd#9

The fire in Fort McMurray, deemed "out of control" and is 0% contained, still makes firefighters optomistic. One woman, Melissa Gallant, sent her two children miles away to stay with other relatives because of the growing fire. Her kids are unaware of when they will be returning, but Melissa said that her reason for sending them away was to save them the trauma. The Fort McMurray wildfire has already torched 400,000 acres, but that is a better outcome than expected. The fire has forced more than 90,000 people to flee their homes, and the fire is moving east. Residents of the area will not be allowed in their houses for a while. Firefighters are hopeful that the fire will die down soon, and hopefully Melissa and her children will return to rebuild their house soon.

Wild fires are not uncommon, but this particular fire is very wide spread. It is very sad that this fire has caused families to be seperated. The fire is completely uncontained and is growing, but firefighters are hopeful that the fire will end. This article written by Holly Yan, CNN, gives the details of this scary fire through the story of a woman who had to send her kids away from her to save their lives.
