9 ways facebook changed our everyday life: Devon Travis

CNN posted an article on ways facecbook has changed the way we talk to others, in honor of Facebook's 10 year aniversary. With "Friend" and "Poke" we've changed the way we use certain verbs in context. if we had said " go like my status right now!" 10 years ago, people would've thought we were from a different planet. But with these new techonologies and social medias being introduced into society, we've learned new terms to say ridiculous things. social media has taken over our generation (or most of us) where we are attached to twitter, instagram, candy crush, you name it. To think about how differently Americans lived 20 years ago is mind blowing. We've done a 180, and we are blessed with different technologies--but also cursed. we lack social skills and professionalism, and we like to tell the world "every time we eat a sandwich or go to the bathroom." what are your thoughts on social media on our generation?

  1. I've thought about this topic a lot lately. I think that technology and social media, including facebook, was initially a great innovation with good intentions. it made staying in touch with old friends easier and allowed us to share happy moments with our friends. However, over the past few years, that technology has devoured out lives and in my opinion, has become something that isn't so good. We don't take the time to appreciate things, and are becoming out of touch with reality, wanting everything instantaneously.

  2. I feel like Facebook gives people a false sense of "connection" but it is cooool how far technology has come in the recent years! I'm excited to see what's gonna happen next.

  3. What would we do without technology...literally. sadly, my cell phone is glued to my hand 24/7 and it has greatly impacted my life...i am trying to change that but its harder than it looks!

  4. Yes technology has changed dramatically and its crazy how much we are glued to our phone, but I think we have to learn when to not be on our phone. Like when we are having dinner with someone or when you are on a date, if you are on your phone during this then you are being rude.
