Why the "Citizen Militia" Theory is the Worst Pro-gun Arument Ever- Natalie Newman

Mark Nukols writes about one of the most controversial topics at the time in one of his latest articles in The Atlantic Monthly. The difference between the 21st century right to bear arms and the 18th century right to bear arms is a voluminous one. Centuries ago, if a citizen was armed and was using it as a defense weapon they would truly be defending their liberty and freedom; however, nowadays, many people bear arms and use them freely and as a response to  “spur the moment” anger. Protecting ones rights is a term that is being thrown around when justifying robbery and bloodshed rather than justifying a citizen’s democracy and liberty.

  1. In my opinion those terms have changed, but the right to bare arms is still a amendment that can be exercised. The reason for carrying a weapon is different for each individual and i believe should be respected.
