"We just achieved an agreed order," Stephen Casey, a lawyer and founder of The Texas Center for Defense of Life, told CNN in a telephone interview. "They agreed to it, signed it and it was signed by the judge."
Casey had argued that Roe v. Wade, the historic 1973 Supreme Court decision that guaranteed women the right to have an abortion, works both ways.
"Roe was about the right
to choose," Casey told CNN prior to the order being signed. "This young
woman has the right to choose to have her child."
Abortion is a very controversial topic in today's world, but it also surprises me that the state would give a 16 year old the freedom to choose to abort or not. In the end that's the only opinion that really matters, the parents of the future kid.http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/18/us/texas-abortion-teen-lawsuit/index.html?hpt=us_c2

Abortion is a very controversial subject and I personally don't really know my stance on it. However, I do agree that it is surprising that the courts let the 16 year old girl make her own decision without her parents' consent. But just because she's not 18 doesn't mean shes not a real person and a woman, who according to the law, has the right to make these decisions for herself.
ReplyDeleteif a women can open her legs and let someone in, she shouldnt be allowed an abortion. Its murder! It's a process of life! is killing a child okay even though it hasn't hit puberty? NO! so this shouldnt either.
