Summary: At about 2:30 pm, there was an explosion and smoke coming from the train tunnels. The trains immediately stopped and the evacuation started. An eyewitness even said that everyone in the train car expected death. There were people covered in blood and even 3-4 dead. The evacuation took place 5-7 minutes after the explosion and authorities arrived to the scene. People were burned, disfigured, and crying. At least 11 people are reported dead and 39 injured. One helicopter arrived just to collect dead bodies.
Analysis: This was an extremely tragic event. It happened on Monday at Seyenna Square and killed many people, injuring even more. The fact that this even happened shows irresponsibility on the part of the train station, especially considering the fact that it emotionally scarred more than it physically did. I hope the people affected by this incident are going to be okay.

Seanelle Higgins: 254 Colombians Left Dead After Devastating Flood
Summary: 254 people just died recently in Colombia after a devastating flood. Entire neighborhoods are destroyed, and rescuers desperately dig underneath the mud and water for the bodies of their families. This happened in the city of Mocoa where several rivers flooded their banks, causing floods and landslides all around the city. 82 bodies were descovered floating by firefighters on the first search, and a lot of families are unhappy. Many blame climate change for this disaster, others blame the conditions of the area. The entire city was unfortunately uninformed and slept through the flood. The civilians woke up to flooding rooms and dead family. About 200 others were injured.
Analysis: This is an awful incident that happened in Colombia. I truly hope that these people are able to gain refuge and assistance until they can help themselves again. This was not the wealthiest area, and most of the people ended up in emergency housing. Homes were severely destroyed, and the people don't have the best funds to rebuild homes and get back on their feet. I do hope they receive lots of volunteer help and donation. They can use all of the help they can get.

London Police Liberate all 12 People Who Attacked Bridge

On March 22nd, 2017, a 52 year old man by the name of Khalid Masood engraved terror in the hearts of the citizens of London, Paris when he plowed through pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, as well as fatally stabbing a police officer who tried to stop him. Four people were killed on that day and dozens more were hospitalized, some injuries worse than others. The police officer killed at the scene was a 15 year veteran named Keith Palmer. Detectives do not believe that this attack was spurred by ISIS or al Qaeda. Masood was shot eventually and died, however his 12 other accomplices were brought into custody but were released with no charges just days later.

I don't think the London police should have released those terrorists, especially without charges. These men are just going to go back to continue killing and scaring people around the world. No lesson was learned from just being in jail for a few days. I think they should at least get a 20 year sentence, based off of the part they played in the attack. By releasing them, there is now more risk of attacks in Europe and i just do not think that that was a good idea. I'm glad that the main attacker was killed at the scene because if he had lived and gotten out of jail, he would have taken his leadership role and continue to murder. When detectives say that it was not encouraged by ISIS or al Qaeda, I don't know if that is correct or not. The attackers may not have been apart of those groups, but they still caused fear and still killed for no reason.

Summary: Recently a couple lost their beloved daughter to the flu. Their daughter had minor symptoms as in a small fever and a sore throat. Its not news to everyone that its possible to die from the flu but when you have these minor symptoms then its scary. The parents took her to the clinic to make sure everything was good and all they said was that she had the flu but to let it run its course and she will be fine. Little did they know just in less then 40 hours their daughter couldn’t do the simplest movements. They tried helping her get to the bath where she ended up passing away.
Analysis: This is just unexplainable. How could a child just pass away from such small symptoms. The doctors must have missed something because this is just too crazy. Maybe doctors will take this as a sign and look more into the flu so they can prevent this from happening again.

Audrey Gavitt- child died from flu
Summary-
Shannon Zwanziger had the flu for a week before she died. 'Let it run its course The seasonal flu kills healthy, active, precious kids every year. Shannon went to school on a Wednesday, came home like always, but said a friend "Gave" her the flu. The flu destroyed Shannon Zwanziger's organs and she didn't even know it, her mother said. The doctor just said it was the flu and to "Let it run its course." The doctor didn't have a lot of time to spend with her because the waiting room was packed with people who seemed to have the flu also.

Many are afraid that since the shot has some of the virus in it, it will cause problems for the child. Although parents have the right to do what the chose with their child when they chose not to get the flu shot they are also endangering other children. Ava Noble: Used Rocket Made History
Summary: A Tesla run company called SpaceX has made history after using a used rocket for a space mission. The used rocket was safely landed in the Atlantic Ocean on a droneship platform. The Ceo is Elon Musk, and he said this is a "huge revolution in spaceflight". By using a used rocket, they save a ton of money. SpaceX's goal is to travel to Mars using this same rocket all in 24 hours.
Analysis: This article was posted on CNN, and I believe I can always trust that CNN releases factual information. I think the audience for this article can be anyone. Whether you are a student learning about space or a curious adult reading the news, I think it is intriguing to all. I had never heard about using a used rocket to go into space prior to reading this article. This reminds me of the Space race that happened between the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1960s-70s. I am curious to see what their safety precautions are when using a used rocket. It worries me that they could be unaware of something that was damaged on its previous mission. I cannot wait to see where SpaceX's accomplishments teach us in the future!

Muslim women and allies stood hand in hand to condemn the attack in London -Zia Bella Blair 7th period
Wearing blue to symbolize peace, nearly 100 women — mostly Muslim — stood hand in hand forming a human chain along Westminster Bridge. On the same bridge just days prior, Khalid Masood drove his car into pedestrians,injuring dozens and killing four people before being killed by police. But for five minutes on March 26, 2017, the iconic London span was mostly silent. No chants. No bullhorns. No signs or banners. Simply women and girls joining forces, the sounds of a city in mourning, and people doing their best to carry on in the wake of tragedy. The event was organized by Women's March on London after one Muslim woman was unfairly maligned for looking indifferent to victims in the aftermath of the attack. A photo of the woman on the phone walking past an injured victim circulated online. But her detractors only saw a single frame in what was assuredly a shocking and distressing morning. The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, released a statement to TellMAMA, a organization that supports victims of anti-Muslim violence in the U.K. "What the image does not show is that I had talked to other witnesses to try and find out what was happening, to see if I could be of any help, even though enough people were at the scene tending to the victims. I then decided to call my family to say that I was fine and was making my way home from work, assisting a lady along the way by helping her get to Waterloo station." I think it's horrible that this woman was judged this way. This was a beautiful statement and it shows that the human nature can always find hope in the worst situations.
