The first woman to ever run the Boston Marathon has just completed it for a second time, 50 years later. The first time she ran, she was a 20 year old journalism student. Now 70 years old, Kathrine Switzer wore her same exact number from 1967 and crossed the finish line again. I never knew that she was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon! I think that this is amazing, and ties in with the Women's Rights Movement that we have been learning about in APUSH all year. I think that she is a strong woman, and very lucky to be healthy enough to be running the same marathon at age 70.

Jordyn Chapman-Trump 'Tapes' are an Ugly Echo
Summary: President Trump decided to fire the FBI director heading an investigation into the President's campaign and its potential connections to Russia. Historians and political pundits instantly invoked the Saturday Night Massacre, when Nixon ordered the firing of special prosecutor Archibald Cox, who was investigating the Watergate break-in scandal, and the attorney general and his deputy resigned rather than follow orders. Maggie Gibson Anderson Cooper's eyeroll is all of us right now

CNN's Anderson Cooper recently had White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on his show Tuesday night to interview about the shocking news of the firing of FBI Director Kellyanne Conway. Cooper played a series of clips of Trump praising Comey during his 2016 campaign. Conway responded "Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was on your show last fall saying we were going to win Michigan and how we were going to do it, so that was fun." While Conway was speaking, Cooper rolled his eyes. The reason he did this is because the Trump White House responds saying they see no point in "relitigating" the past anytime someone asks them a question they don't want to have to answer, or specifically about the Russia investigation. The author continues to point out the hypocrisy of this strategy, pointing out Trump's love to relitigate the past, on numerous occasions pointing out how he won the election unexpectedly.
This article was very biased against Donald Trump and his White House, and very pro Anderson Cooper. Though Cooper was disrespectful towards Kellyanne Conway, Kellyanne Conway went out of her way to not respond to his question, and it is very frustrating to get not even an attempt to answer the question. Trump's White House has been lacking a significant amount of reason and logic in their decisions, or at least has failed to present them to the public. I think this is a huge issue - the public needs to be informed, instead of all us trying to interpret what is going on in Trump's head. Right now, all I can see has been random and thoughtless decisions from President Trump. Maybe there is some reason - but he needs to tell everyone about it.

Madelyn Dean - Did Mr. Trump Obstruct Justice?
President Trump recently fired Comey, head of the Russian investigation. Although Trump states he fired Comey for obstruction of justice, Trump and the whole Republican party could have been in the know of Russian affairs tied to the election from the start. And to add more, during this whole break out Trump met with the Russian ambassador at the white house to make things even more suspect. The only thing to further expose this scandal and possibly bring the supreme court to impeach Trump, would be for Trump to have recorded in the oval office the conversations involving Russia or other corrupt political dealings much like Nixon who resigned before being impeached.

World Wide Cyber Attack- Leah Lara
Last the world experienced the largest cyberattack in history. The attack has effected over 150 countries, and infected over 300,000 machines. The attack has most severely effected the healthcare system of Great Britain, halting surgeries and ambulance rides. The attack has taken files captive and demands a at least $300 in ransom in exchange for their return. But upon reports, compliance with the ransom, have not received their files back.
Technology is constantly evolving, which includes technological warfare. Its scary to think that now a days that not only can our personal information be hacked, but also the personal information of our governments. There are also reports that the codes used to spread the virus are similar to the signature codes North Korea. I hope that this isn't foreshadowing a third World War, and it's leading weapon; technology.

This Year's BBMA's Have Gone International - Leah Lara
The Billboard Music awards is famous for awarding the most popular musicians of that year. Up until now, all the artists have had several things in common; they have been popular, glamorous,- and typically- American or European. But this year's top social artist award has many top contenders. Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes.. and BTS. BTS is a seven member, South Korean boyband that is swooping the globe. Formed in 2013, by Big hit entertainment, the group has steadily been climbing music charts around the world. There most recent music videos, 'Not Today' and Spring day have an average of 100 million views since their release in March. On their 2017 global tour, the sold out arenas world wide, including in America.
It makes me happy that the Billboard Awards is recognizing international artists, and giving them proper acknowledgement, especially when due. Its also a great opportunity for Asians to take the spotlight in American Media which isn't very often. Although some people are quite hostile to BTS's nomination, it reminds me of several very popular international artists throughout American history. Most popularly; the Beatles, and most recently, One Direction. Both boybands, both foreign. But BTS gives a unique opportunity for POC's to steal young girls hearts this time.

Police Officer Body slammed 12 year old girl- Josie guthrey
Just a couple days ago, a video went viral which showed a 12 year old girl being body slammed by a DISD police officer. In the cell phone recording, you can see Mariana fighting with another student at school when the officer picked up the 100 pound girl and slams her on the ground. Mariana also claims that he sprayed her with pepper spray to a point where she couldn't see.
She was later taken to the hospital due to a clavicle fracture. DisD refused to talk about the situation other than this comment: “actions do not appear to represent the type of response we want our officers to display.”
Marianas mom is working to get the officer fired. She says that he is obviously not fit to be around children.
This can be synthesized to police brutality throughout all of history.
