The United States blamed the Syrian government and its patrons, Russia and Iran, on Tuesday for one of the deadliest chemical weapons attacks in years in Syria, one that killed dozens of people in Idlib Province, including children, and sickened scores more. A senior State Department official said the attack appeared to be a war crime and called on Russia and Iran to restrain the government of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria from carrying out further chemical strikes.
This could be related to the United States involvement with the Middle East. These chemical attacks in Syria have been happening back to back. Assad is like similar to Isis. The US is always involved with those who need help. Is that a good choice? I don't know. This article is significant because it gives us awareness that one day this could be us & we need to be prepared.

'Cash Me Outside' girl Danielle Bregoli's fight with mom being investigated by authorities, Hayley Cagle
Summary: A video from a few years back leaked of the mother of the 'Cash Me Outside' girl hitting the child. Authorities and CPS got involved, but Danielle denounced any accusations of her mother's abuse.
Analysis: This would explain the girl's innapropriate behavior at such a young age. She never had anyone to truly love her and raise her right, so she's always acted out. The fact that she said they were "play fighting" isn't very convincing but will surely be covered up to keep the checks coming in.

Kyla Thomas- Americans over 60 are drinking more, study says
Summary: This article is about people who are 60 and over being discovered drinking more than senior citizens 20 years ago. Men reported higher numbers of regular and binge-drinking tendencies than women, but the largest percentage increases were seen in the female population. In the US 20 years ago, 54% of the men who were 60 years old age or older were current drinkers and nearly 38 women of that age also drank. Recently studies have shown that those statistics have risen to nearly 60% for men and nearly 48% for women."It was common practice to see more men than women, and now we see more equal numbers," said Dr. Bhanuprakash Kolla, a psychiatrist at the Mayo Clinic. Unlike a bottle of wine, our bodies do not get better with time and the alcohol does not help people health wise in any way. Older people are at a higher risk of being effected by the alcohol they drink.
Analysis: I though this was a very interesting story to read. Before reading this article I thought that people in the younger generations drank more than older generations. I do know that alcohol could be very dangerous but maybe older people drinking more isn't necessarily a bad thing. Along with age comes wisdom and life experience. Their expertise in life could make them way more responsible drinkers than younger drinkers. Where it gets out of hand is when addiction kicks in. In relation to history, this is a cause of the 21st Amendment, which mandated nationwide prohibition on alcohol. If it weren't for this law, there would be no legal consumption of alcohol in the first place.

Ciaja Beck (4th period) Remains of missing girl are found from 5 years ago
Summary: An Arizona little girl remains were found today from 5 years ago, when she went missing. officials states that, she was last seen by family members when she went to bed at 11 p.m. on a Friday. When her father went to wake her at 8 a.m. Saturday -- a half-hour after her mother had gone to work -- he said the girl was nowhere to be found, according to police. The Chief also stated that Isabel's remains were found in a rural part of Pima County, which includes Tucson. (Isabel on the right)Analysis: I mourn for Isabel and her family. How sad is it to know that your little 5 year old daughter is dead and there's still not a suspect to be found? I really hope that there's justice for this beautiful young girl. Liam Taylor - The Naked Truth of a Woman Who Lied about Breast Cancer
Summary: Paulette Leaphart has been at the heat of controversy for the past year. Last year, she was 49 years old. Analysis: This article was published Jessica Ravitz on March 31, 2017, yesterday. Ravitz followed Leaphart during her entire journey, and at first thought of her as an inspiring hero, as many others did. However, she began to notice holes in her story. After months of research, it was true that Leaphart had cancer, but she was lying about so many other things in order to raise money so she could live a lavish lifestyle.
Synthesis: This reminds me a lot of when Nixon was involved in corruption and scandal and completely lied to the public. Now, Paulette is nowhere near a president, but just in general, lying to gain public support, or recognition, and in some cases, money, is terribly wrong, and should be severely punished.

Emma Sutherland - SpaceX launches used rocket successfully and lands it in ocean
SUMMARY:
SpaceX, a Tesla run company, has launched a used rocket. They have made history by using an already used rocket for a space mission. SpaceX launched the rocket 22,000 miles into space, and successfully landed it on a droneship platform in the Atlantic Ocean. CEO Elon Musk said about the event, "This is ultimately a huge revolution in spaceflight". The benefits of launching rockets this way is that it severely cuts down the cost of a typical launch. SpaceX has many more plans in progress that they are hoping to achieve at some point, including traveling to Mars and reusing the same rocket in 24 hours.
ANALYSIS:
Prior to reading this article, I had never heard of reusing a rocket! I think this is a really cool concept, and really is revolutionary in this field! I hope that they can accomplish all that they are planning to and more. By having success in something like this, it opens many doors to where there is so much more we can accomplish! Mikenzie Moon, "Get Ready for Calorie Counts om Every Chain Menu in America"
Summary: Already many chain restaurants have the calories of their items on the menu. Soon my May everyone will and it may not just be the calories, but other facts like sodium content. These come from President Obama's affordable care act, but there have recently been discussions to repeal it. These requirements have been unfavorable to business owners because they not only have to pay to install new boards. They have to pay for lab testing finding the nutrient content. Also research has shown that no evidence has shown an increase in healthier eating. Often people choose to ignore nutritional value when eating out.
Analysis/synthesis: The author definitely seemed more bias to not having the nutrients labels. Personally I like them because I want to stay fit, but at the same time when Im at places like Chick Fil A I choose to ignore it. I think overall they are important to have even if people ignore it were more informed. People used to not be informed about there food whatsoever until, Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle in 1906. Its always important to be informed on what we take into our bodies.
