First lady First kidney surgery | Mica Stout

At Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, D.C., Melania Trump had a kidney surgery. She had been facing issues with her kidney that most doctors thought wouldn't be a bother. The procedure was successful, and nothing went wrong.

Trump is the first US First Lady to have a serious medical procedure conducted upon since Nancy Reagan. She is going to be in recovery for the duration of the week, and once she's done healing, business will go on.

Science and medicine now is astonishingly progressive, and now doctors are able to specify and treat unknown or difficult symptoms. It's amazing what the past couple of years have done for millions of people, and when the cancer vaccine is created, humans could become unstoppable. Back in the period of colonization, any small disease could've killed one person per minute, something as simple as the flu. NOW, we have a medicine to stop the flu before it even gets here.

Michigan State to pay $500M to survivors of Larry Nassar's abuse-Adriann Wrice

http://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/23520900/michigan-state-spartans-agree-500-million-larry-nassar-settlement

Michigan State will pay $500 million to survivors of Larry Nassar's sexual abuse in what is believed to be the largest settlement ever in a sexual misconduct case involving a university.Attorneys representing 332 claimants reached an agreement with representatives from Michigan State during a  meeting Tuesday afternoon. The university's board of trustees agreed to the deal in principle. Michigan State's agreement stipulates that $425 million will be given  to survivors who are currently part of the lawsuits. The remaining $75 million will be held in reserve for two years in the event that others come forward and make claims about Nassar's abuse. The settlement did not require any of the claimants to sign nondisclosure agreements.
This is great for the survivors. Everyday some has to go through the unimaginable horrors of sexual abuse and society’s has gotten so used to it we don’t process how horrible these situations really are. I believe they everyone deserves to receive this money because it shows how the school system needs to take risks responsibility when things do go wrong. With Nassars 100+ years in prison I believe the survivors are satisfied but nothing will ever make them forget the horrors they undured by the man. This is important to US history because it’s the biggest college payout to sexual abuse victims  by staff members to date.

Isabella Hambleton- Tiger at prom

At Christopher Columbus HS in Miami, they had a "welcome to the jungle" themed Prom. To add to the fun they brought in a live tiger to come and perform for the students. They took many videos and pictures and posted them. The posts went viral and people began criticizing the high school for bringing the tiger into that kind of atmosphere. They said that the music and loud noises were a mistreatment to the tiger as it was stuck in a cage all night with no way to get out.
This article, written by Paul P. Murphy shows us an example of animal mistreatment. Animals should never be put in that kind of situation and should be where it is comfortable. Many people take animals for granted and don't take care of them the way they should be taken care of. This has opened my eyes and made me more aware of how I might treat other animals and how I can treat them better.

G.M.O. Foods Will Soon Require Labels. What Will the Labels Say?

New guidelines for labeling foods that contain genetically modified ingredients have been proposed by the US Department of Algriculture. According to the guidelines, “food  makers will be required by federal law to use the labels, starting in 2020.” The safety of genetically modified ingredients, GMOs, still remains an area of concern for most people. By informing the use of labeling products, consumers are made aware of the possible health risks.

This article focuses on holding corporations accountable for providing consumers with possible health risk information. This relates to the Pure Food and Drug Act in Apush, because it was one of the first steps towards ensuring the safety of the consumers.

Gregory St. Andre has been accused and charged of incest and sexual assault. He had gotten his now 20 year old daughter pregnant and is will soon face trial for the sexual assault allegations. The family had been reported of saying that they suspected abuse way before the birth of the child. St. Andre's wife is now filing for a divorce.

Synthesis and My thoughts:
Gregory is a horrible, despicable man who deserves the full extent of punishment given to him. However, the idea that the wife decided to say with him while this abuse towards her own daughter occurred when she was aware of it is absolutely absurd. Still, maybe I don't have all the facts. Lots of variables can play into this, but all I know is that Gregory can die in prison.

Two Indiana parents also were guilty of sexually abusing their children. The father told the children that it was safer to have sex within the family and it would also strengthen their "family bond". (gross)

Michael Sanchez 5......... Militia leader still anti- America

Moktada al-Sadr, a firebrand militia leader whose forces once battled American troops in Iraq and were implicated in widespread atrocities against civilians, has emerged as the surprise front-runner in the Iraqi national elections, according to Iraqi election officials. After American forces withdrew from Iraq in 2011, Mr. Sadr remained vocally anti-American, though he has also been strongly critical of Iran, the other foreign power with widespread influence here. The victory of Mr. Sadr’s political coalition could complicate the American strategy in Iraq.

Dozens are killed at the Gaza border as protests continue. This is all due to the recent movement of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, Israel. Officials have said over 58 have been killed in the protests against the US, as one man stated that, “America is the greatest Satan”. Many riots have erupted due to this historical move of the Embassy, as Palestinians are willing to give their lives for their country.
