Man undergoes second surgery to remove 14- pound tumor from his face

              Stefan Zoleik is a Slovakian man planning to undergo his second surgery to remove his 14 pound tumor located on his face. The disease is called "madelung" disease that occurs mostly in Mediterranean ancestory men between the ages of 30 and 70. Though these people are found with an alcohol abuse, CEN does not note if Zoleik had a history of AA. He first saw signs of his disease when he was in his twenties when he began to notice the formation of a large jaw. After his first five-hour surgery, he got his original tumor removed. Now, he is preparing to go into surgery again and get the rest of the fatty cells removed.
               Before the advancement in our technology today and the advances we have in science, this tumor would of not been fixed. Most importantly, people would of thought of it as a sign that he did something wrong to deserve that. Today we know that it comes from alcohol abuse and we have the technology to fix it.

Superbug - Lindsey Galvan p.4

The same superbug that contributed to two deaths in Los Angeles has been reported in North Carolina. A study commission by the British government have stated that this same bug has the potential to spread worldwide. This would result in high global costs and higher GDP.

I believe this relates to the recent Ebola outbreak and the 1952 US Polio outbreak. Both outbreaks appeared at a surprise. The Superbug is expected to have an outbreak as well, but we humans have an advantage knowing that it is coming. In the meantime, we could develop a cure or find ways to avoid it, unlike the sudden Ebola and Polio outbreaks that led us to panic.

Police: Ex-cop shot Georgia sheriff and deputy

(CNN)Questions swirled Monday about how a woman, a former police officer and another man were killed -- while a sheriff and deputy suffered gunshot wounds.

What authorities know is that a domestic violence call went horribly wrong at a home outside Clarkesville, Georgia, on Sunday evening.

Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell and Deputy Bill Zigan responded to a domestic violence call and found a woman dead in the garage of the residence, said Rusty Andrews, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's deputy director of investigations.

The two went inside the home, where "it appears that they were ambushed," Andrews said.

Zigan was hit multiple times, and Terrell was shot in the arm, CNN affiliate WGCL reported.

Police: Alleged shooter is ex-cop Anthony Giaquinta.

Terrell was released from the Northeast Georgia Medical Center late Sunday, and Zigan remains in the hospital for "further treatment and observation," County Manager Phillip Sutton said, adding that he's "hopeful that he will be released soon."

At some point, Giaquinta fled and was found dead outside the home, along with another man, officials said. No information on the second man was immediately available, but police told local media that he, too, was found dead. On Sunday the sheriff responded to the call "probably because he knew the person who was involved in the incident" and because he thought he could calm down Giaquinta.

Amira Abase told her father she was going to a wedding. Instead, the 15-year-old British girl hopped on a plane with two friends to Turkey -- and police fear they are headed to Syria to join ISIS. "What she's doing is completely nonsense," said Amira's father, Abase Hussen. He implored Amira to come home."Remember how we love you. Your sister, brother, they cannot stop crying." Six days ago, the trio of British girls ran away from home and flew from London to Istanbul. It's unclear where Amira, 15-year-old Shamima Begum and 16-year-old Kadiza Sultana are. But authorities worry their next stop will be Syria.

U.S. staged mock mall attacks:: Madhee Moseman:: P6

After a siege at a Kenyan mall two years ago, the FBI started staging mock attacks in U.S. shopping centers during off hours to test their readiness, an official said.

More than 60 people died when Al-Shabaab militants raided an upscale mall in Nairobi and held shoppers hostage for four days. The terror group released a video Saturday calling for similar attacks in malls in the United States, Canada and the UK. Although Homeland Security and the FBI say they are not aware of a specific, credible plot against U.S. malls, they've worked to improve security in light of the attack in Kenya. Last year, the FBI teamed up with various malls nationwide to increase preparedness, a law enforcement official told CNN. It tested the readiness of SWAT teams by staging fake attacks at malls when they were closed, the official said.

Since then, the FBI has had a program that works with malls to improve security, the official said.

Although Al-Shabaab's past attacks have been limited to East Africa, the militants have heavily recruited in Minneapolis, where young men have been slipping away to join the terror group. The city is home to the largest Somali population in the United States.

In addition to Kenya and Somalia, Al-Shabaab has also struck in Uganda, where it killed dozens gathered to watch a World Cup soccer match in Kampala five years ago. Kenya and Uganda have sent their forces to neighboring Smalia to battle the extremists. As the attacks get more daring, the international community has rallied to fight the militants. Last year, a U.S. airstrike in Somalia killed the Al-Shabaab leader. The terror group later replaced him and vowed to avenge his death. Al-Shabaab started off with a goal of waging a war against the Somali government in an effort to implement a stricter form of Islamic law, or Sharia. It has since shifted focus to terrorist attacks in Somalia and beyond.

President Obama's policy on immigration made a huge impact on undocumented people for the better. They were able to apply for what is known as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans) which allowed them to work in the US by giving them work permits, children were able to go to school/college, and no families would be teared apart because if they were in one of these programs, deportation would be prevented because they were protected. However, Judge Andrew S. Hanen made the drastic decision to halt this program and temporarily put it on hold. That's going to lead to irreparable harm and millions of families fearing separation. Reluctantly, those who applied for DACA or DAPA back in 2012 still have that protection, the only people who don't are this year's applicants.

This relates to APUSH because it kind of reminds me of the Immigration Quotas. I feel like I'm actually witnessing history repeating itself for the wrong reason. I don't know what was going on in the Judge Hanen's head when he made this decision, but it sounds like he wants to limit immigration. I'm glad United We Dream is standing up against this drastic decision and is working hard to find a way to ensure protection for all undocumented people and families.
