Trump says he's 'terminating' NAFTA, announces new trade agreement with Mexico

Summary:
President Donald Trump announces that he is terminating NAFTA because it has  bad cannotations. He says he plans on ending that and starting an agreement with Mexico. He plans on calling it the "United States-Mexico agreement". He says this trade is allowing us to get closer to Mexico and that maybe Canada can still be involved into this agreement pact. This event is related to the past because in the past their as also been trade agreements. For example there has been trade agreements between different groups in the past. THeir has also been the Columbian exchange.

My opinion: I agree with this event because it can really help both the United States and Mexico. It can help the US get closer to Mexico and this way they can both benefit from each other.

Derek Spellman "Death in the age of narcissism"

Summary: After John McCain's death many people talked about his life by recounting how they were associated with him. In a way they are a flexing how well they knew john mccain. Which is a natural thing to do as a person because when someone dies you think about how they affected your life. Instead of boasting how well we knew somebody that died we should talk about what we know about their life.

Analysis: I think posting about a death is inherently boastful no matter what you say. Unless you were one of the people that was closest to them and have information or a story about their life you want to share with fellow mourners. But I don't think it's really anybody's fault I think it's just an inherent flaw with social media. But other than that I agree with the author that many people want to talk about about famous deaths in a narcissistic way.

Shooting in Jacksonville
Source: https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/27/us/jacksonville-shooting-victims/index.html
On Sunday , August 26, 2018 there as a shooting in Jacksonville at a gaming tournament. According to social media Taylor robertson and Eli Clayton are the ones who passed away. Nine others were injured by gunshot wounds and two others were injured fleeing the scene. Also the gunman turned the gun onto himself. In my opinion I think all of these shooting school wise or just regular shootings are dividing us as a nation. I also think that there should be a stricter law on gun laws. In 1791 the 2nd Amendment was created and it is the right to bear arms. I wonder if the writers of the constitution had in mind that guns would be used for radical reason as they are used today.
Article: https://www-m.cnn.com/2018/08/27/us/3d-guns-judge-ruling/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&rm=1

Summary: after the development of 3D Printing blueprints for Guns in 2013; wich can be downloaded, printed, assembled. and fully functioning, there was an uproar over the treat this posed. Judge Robert S. Lasnik, in June, with the trump foundation, Decided to ban this practice and forbid the uploading of these blueprints. However, due to loopholes, blueprints were legally posted, downloaded and made. By adding a metal pin and piece, these plastic guns become legal, which is a recent development in this case

My opinions: Well, Gun violence is a huge problem, and now, guns can be like, pirated, and made without number codes, so they can bypass background checks through this. Its very dangerous, but by loopholes in the first amendment and plastic gun policy, this is legal, and frightening. Shooting are far too common already, and if things like this are allowed, more will come. Honestly. a man that is so insistant to have a gun he will fight a court, probably shouldnt have a gun.

Bryn Bohannan- McCain’s Farwell Speech

Summary:
This Saturday, August 25, John McCain passed away. A couple of days before he made a farewell message. He talked about his gratitude to America and also had a few picks at Trump. Giving Trump his opinion on many decisions that Trump has made, without saying his name.

Analysis:
NBC News wrote this article about this event. They are known for bashing Trump, so you might want to get another source as well. With all of that set aside, this article was given so people can know what McCain said in his farewell message and how Trump responded to his death, with only a tweet. This article was made today, August 27, so it is very new news and we have not had a response. I didn’t not know much about this article before reading besides John McCain dying, so that gave me a pretty open mind about this information. John McCain giving his option to Trump is like when Hamilton tells Washington “History has its eyes on you.” those are both saying to make better decisions and be more giving to the rest of the world.

Daniela Rodriguez - Not just misleading. Not merely false. A lie.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/politics/2018/08/23/not-just-misleading-not-merely-false-lie/

Glenn Kessler, the fact checker for the US government, has been using the terms “misleading information” or “false statements” for untruths that government officials, such as Trump has said. This past week, Kessler has changed his statements to calling Trump a liar, when it comes to the Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels debacle. He follows a timeline of where Trump originally denies the accusations, and over a period of time while now reluctantly acknowledging the payment, Trump still denies using campaign money. At this point Trump is consciously omitting information and lying about his actions. Something like this deeply questions the integrity of our president and sparks the question whether he is morally suited to run our country. Similar to Aaron Burr’s denials to the truths, as seem in Hamilton, Trump also avoids fully explaining the situation, using excuses to get a personal goal, under the illusion that everything is for the better of the people.

Shooting at Gaming Convention

The suspect in a deadly shooting that happened just Sunday. The suspect, 24 year-old David Katz, wounded nine people and killed two before fatally shooting himself at the Madden NFL 19 tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. Katz was said to be very antisocial at the tournament, barely speaking to other competitors and displaying erratic behavior. He opened fire inside a gaming bar connected to a pizzeria at Jacksonville Landing. I think that shootings in general are on the rise recently because of tensions involving gun laws. I think that for things like this to prevented, we need stricter gun laws, because this shouldn't have happened at all. And maybe if we had stricter gun laws, it wouldn't have, and three people wouldn't have lost their lives.
