Potential for a Third Party

The Republican Party has grown so large that it might just have to split into two. One major cause stems from Trump. He has stirred up much turmoil within the party due to his conflicting loyalty which has resulted in few legislative victories. His unconventional path to the presidency has set a solid foundation for the creation of a new party. Observers believe that Trump's free-range approach to politics is the precursor to a civil war within the Republican Party. It's only a matter of time before the last straw is reached.

In my opinion, I can't help but be dazed at all the chaos and confusion one man can bring. Trump has made is his mission to undo the achievements of the Obama administration,  but he may bring an end to the two party system that's been around for roughly two hundred years. Of course, many could argue that this system has many flaws, and this situation has been a long time coming. Either way, it's going to be a wild ride watching wild politics descend into madness.

  1. If President Trump were to re-run for president and win, do you think this would be a big enough event to cause a "republican civil war"?

    1. And what POV would democrats take in this hypothetical war? would they eventually split in two as well and thus create a second civil war entirely?

    2. Definitely. His already unstable platform seems to be enough motivation for some people.

    3. I think that there's definitely a big possibility for a split within the republican party, because in some ways it's already happened. Many republicans were so against a Trump presidency that they: 1) Just didn't vote, 2) Wrote something in , or 3) even voted for Hillary. If Trump were to run again I think it would, without a doubt, cause an even bigger divide.
