Recently, Mexico was hit with a 8.2 magnitude earthquake and as of now the death toll has rose to 96 (number has yet to be confirmed due to conflicting sources). This earthquake hit the southern regions of mexico like Juchitán de Zaragoza. This town had one of the most damage caused by the tremor, leaving at least 36 people dead. Another region, Asunción Ixtaltepec, has also been strucked heavily and has affected many families. One of them was the Peralta family. When the tremor struck Eduardo Peralta was guiding the family out the door when a beam had fallen and crushed him. His mother, Ms. Perez was trying to help him and his family. Luckily his wife, Sunihey Antonio, their one-year old daughter, and six year old son survived. Eduardo Peralta protected his six year old, Estaban; however, his injuries were too much and he passed away at age 33.
Mexico had never been hit with such a strong earthquake for nearly a century As of now, residents are met with the destruction of homes and loss of family. Lately, it seems like the weather is reaching abnormal levels. And like the recent hurricanes (Harvey and Irma) people are met with the unknown future. My thoughts and prayers go out for them.
