On Sunday September 10th, Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean Islands and Florida, causing millions of dollars of damage within the first day. 6.5 million homes in Florida are left without power, and at least 37 people have died already in the Caribbean islands. The damage done to Cuba, which is often considered a third world country, will take years and millions of dollars to rebuild, which Cuba might not have. A cuban citizens even says that the Storm of the Century in 1993 did less damage than Hurricane Irma has done so far.
This article was published to bring awareness to the destruction and damage done to Florida and Cuba, possibly so people could contribute to helping to the victims of the hurricane. This article also leads to the discussion of issues of global warming. Climate change as a result of excess greenhouse gases has been causing hurricanes like Irma that cause damage and the death of people. The topic of climate change is important to talk about because some damage done by hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters is irreplaceable and can be prevented if we make changes to our carbon emissions.

I think we also need to keep in mind that this is the hurricane season, and the three hurricanes (Harvey, Irma, and Jose) are not completely from climate change. While it can strengthen the hurricane, such as adding to the high precipitation that we saw in Hurricane Harvey, climate change is not the only cause.

I think we should all contribute because this hurricane has truly damaged those places and it will take a lot of time and money to rebuild and for this places to heal from this devastation.
