Lasers could hide earth from deadly aliens- Emily Miller

The title of this article suggests that there are deadly aliens and that we are on their hit list. Also, we might be able to cloak ourselves using space lasers.
The article is exactly what it sounds like. A scientist named David Kipping theorized that since NASA's Kepler mission has found other habitable planets, humans are searching for alien life, and therefore aliens are probably looking for us too. He imagines that aliens hide their planets with megastructures (picture a big flying saucer), but earth is too big to do that. Instead, we can use lasers to mock an artificial transit that would hide our planet from deadly aliens. And the best part is, it uses only the amount of energy that 70 American homes do in a year. Well Kipping, I say go for it.

This sounds like more of a Men in Black plot than an actual scientific advancement. It's neat that we're looking for alien life, but Kipping is taking it too far. If he follows through with this mission, he'll probably be disappointed by the results. If he lives long enough to see anything happen.
