Carlos Joglar- We WIll Not Succumb to ISIS

During a trip to Asia, President Barack Obama promised to defeat the Islamic State. Now that he's back, he warns us all to not succumb to the ISIL. Addressing a world shaken by its recent terrorist attacks, he reminds us "the most powerful tool we have to fight this ISIL is to say that we're not afraid, to not elevate them, to somehow [not] buy into their fantasy that they're doing something important." "Prejudice and discrimination helps ISIL and undermines out national security."

This message is very important. I see it as an effort to calm down the world, and focus on the issues at hand rather than overreact and spread panic. After 9/11, panic was quickly spread, and we quite literally gave up a lot of our freedoms in light of that alarmed state. Now, Obama is reminding us that that is exactly what ISIL wants. Our government is doing what they can to aid the cause, but we have our own part to play. We can refuse to feed them our fear, our attention, or else they will believe their delusions that they are just.

  1. Obama always has the right words to say in a crisis. His message is very important, as Muslims are being attacked just for having the same religion as ISIL members, so hopefully his words will keep them safe.

  2. This is an excellent example on why we should acknowledged them. They feed on hate and we can beat them with love- Bernadette NEgrete
